Simple Internet Connection Monitoring – Simple Website monitoring
by tt on Sep.26, 2009, under TenM3 Internet service
While ISP’s provide an Internet connection, there are no simple tools to check whether your connection stays up 24/7 as promised by the ISP and to get the date & time of the Up/Down events which can help in resolving any connection problems.
Often using a PC-based tool is not practical, as it is not possible to leave a PC running 24/7 for this use.
TenM3 service provides Simple Internet Connection Monitoring 24/7 and its usage is Free.
The steps are
1. Signup for TenM3 - Signup is Free
2. Get and Add a small network camera to your network.
e.g. Panasonic BL-C101 - which is usually $110.
Wired (Ethernet) and WiFi cameras are available.
3. Setup Camera in your TenM3 account
4. Setup Alerts for your Feed during step3 or later
e.g. Mouse over the photo of the Feed, right-click on ‘Share’
Click on ‘Alert Rules’
Enter your email address for Alerts
Now, TenM3 service will monitor your Internet connection (the camera) every few minutes, 24/7.
If it is unable to reach the camera, a Camera-down Alert is emailed to you. When it is able to reach the camera again, a Camera-Up Alert is emailed.

The above logs show uptime from different DSL connections
Event logs for the last 3 days are available under ‘View Logs > Event Log’. This information can be used to diagnose and fix any issues with the Internet connection.
The usage is Free.
TenM3 provides a simple way to monitor your Internet connection. If you run a website at your connection, this also provides Simple Website Monitoring for uptime.
