|
|
Triggers can be setup on the Panasonic Network Camera where upon the trigger Event, the camera can notify you by emailing an Alert.
Upon notification, the proper action can be taken e.g. you can open the TenM3 LIVE feed to See the area in real-time and (if needed) Alert & share the LIVE feed with Police, Friends and Family.
If you also had the LIVE feed being recorded on TenM3, then the Alert time makes it easy to zero-in and to view the Recordings at exactly the time of the alert.
Different Panasonic network camera models support one more of these Triggers
a) Motion Detection --- detecting motion in field of view
b) Timer --- sending Alerts at a fixed time
c) Alarms --- external sensors (e.g. a window open/close sensor) can trigger these Alerts
The steps to setup Motion-Detection Alerts are below (Similar steps are taken to setup other Alerts).
Note: Different camera models have different features. All the steps below may not be applicable for all models.
1) setup accurate DATE-TIME on the camera as shown here
http://www.tenm3.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=39
while this is not required for all Alerts, it is useful to have the proper date/time on the camera.
2) under ‘Setup > Trigger’ click on a trigger number e.g. ‘1’
3) select ‘Enable Buffer Image/Transfer’ and select the trigger ‘Motion Detection’
click ‘Next’
4) Under ‘Time’ make sure all days-of-week are checked. And
‘Active Time of Trigger’ = Always
5) If needed, set the ‘Image setting’ of the pictures taken
This only affects the images stored in the camera. If you are Recording the Feed with TenM3, this is not important.
6) Set the ‘Lens Position’ of the camera upon Trigger. In most cases, this should be left to ‘do not move’
7) If needed, Set ‘External Output’ --- where upon Trigger, external devices can be controlled e.g. a Loud Alarm at the location.
8) If needed, set the ‘Image Buffer Frequency’
as in step #5, if you are Recording the Feed with TenM3, this is not important. The full Recording will be available at TenM3.
9) Sensor deactivation time = None --- this sets the hysterisis for the next detection. ‘None’ setting would allow continuous Alerts to be generated as long as there is motion.
10) Transfer Method = No Transfer, Memory Overwrite
as in #5, #8 when Recordings are being done with TenM3, it is not required to email images
11) Send Notification when Triggered = email notification
12) In the next screen to ‘Send email notification when triggered’, set your email server info
example values are given
SMTP server - mail.yourProvider.com
Port No – 25
Reply email – yourEmail@yourProvider.com
Destination email – yourEmail@yourProvider.com
Subject - <fill>
Text - <fill>
How to Authenticate > SMTP Authentication
Login - yourLogin, Password – yourPassword
Upon ‘Save’ the setup is complete
Note: In step 12, depending upon your email servers requirements, different portNo and authentication methods can be used.
The camera may not support servers using secure email connections e.g. port 465 instead of 25
One last important step
At ‘Setup > Motion Detection’ page, adjust the ‘Threshold’ and ‘Sensitivity’ to match the level of motion detection sensitivity desired. Whenever the ‘preview’ bar goes red, the camera has detected motion. Create typical motion in front of the camera and adjust the parameters.
Low-Threshold or High-Sensitivity will make the camera more sensitive and likely to detect even slight motions. |
